Science fiction anno 1853

In 1853 Hans Christian Andersen issued a marvellous piece of science fiction named Om Aartusinder (In millenia), describing in detail the transatlantic airborne charter trafic. Although the time scale did not come out right, it was anyway an admirable precise prophecy, difficult for modern scenario-creators to surpass.

The above illustration showing an air steamer approaching the Irish coast was cut by Vilhelm Pedersen, 50 years before the first succesful flight of the Wright brothers.
